Integrated Metabolome and Transcriptome Analysis Unveils the Underlying Molecular Response of Panax ginseng Plants to the Phytophthora cactorum Infection

Due to at least 3 years of cultivation, Panax ginseng (ginseng) is susceptible being attacked by pathogens which severely affect its quality and yield. Compared with other diseases ginseng, Phytophthora blight caused cactorum (P. cactorum) can spread rapidly destroy almost the entire plant such as leaves, stems, roots. However, little research was focused on this area, how P. affected metabolic profile still obscure. In current study, we conducted a comprehensive analysis metabolomics transcriptomics compare differences in health cactorum-affected leaves stems. Metabolome revealed that 110 113 significant differential metabolites were observably disturbed separately Transcriptome demonstrated 6424 9508 genes had remarkable variation Using conjoint analysis, also changes pathways “Alanine, aspartate glutamate metabolism”, “Glycine, serine threonine “Biosynthesis unsaturated fatty acids” “Plant hormone signal transduction” response cactorum. The work provides an overview alteration gene expression profiles stems affection, may help further screen out mechanism plant-pathogen interaction molecular level.
